Most of you who live in small apartments try to make everything count with the minimal space that you own. Let’s us elaborate on how exactly we can make a small room look larger. There is nothing to it but to simply fool the eye. There are some simple tricks that you can apply in order to make this work. Small rooms do look uncomfortable and cramped up but did you know that there are certain design concepts that you can apply to your room so that the interiors will seem much bigger and more spacious than the real deal? Light is definitely the key element when it comes to opening up a space.
People do wonder how this actually helps but if you try and allow natural light to flow in to your room, it somewhat opens up and makes the interior look bigger. If you live in an apartment, most of you might complain about not having enough natural light due to the positioning of the apartment blocks. Then, the easiest thing to do is to try out some lighting effects. The smallest light can do wonders. If you live in a home of your own and you do have access to natural light settings, then make it a point to bring in the light to the interior of the house as much as possible. Try to instill large windows so that you feel connected with the outer environment and let the light flow through. If you do not have a natural environment around your room or house, then try having some plants near the windows. Always use window shades and curtains that are light and sheer so that light seeps in well.
Once you settle with the light factor, think about the color palate that you have chosen for the room. Choosing the right colors to paint your room does make it look bigger. Light shades such as creamy pastels are some of the colors that can make your tiny room look bigger than its usual size. When you use light and bright colors, it will make the space look bigger and the natural light that falls in through the windows will compliment it brilliantly. Using dark colors won’t work and it will make the room look smaller than it already is.
Another option is to keep the room clutter free and well organized. When the furniture and various decors are in order and well arranged, the room tends to display openness. Do not cover walls with murals and large numbers of family photos and pictures. Use one large painting per room and that will be charming and stylish at the same time. Try to use multifunctional furniture if you can since most furniture that you tend to choose might be too large for the room. Have open spaces towards the center of the room and furniture towards the walls and try not to block any pathways. A glass table might do the trick due to its see-through surface.
