Suffering from a cluttered bathroom?
Wish you had more room to move about and ponder whilst enjoying that evening shower and not feel too constrained? You are definitely not alone in having such thoughts, and understanding this, here are our recommendations on how can you utilize your bathroom space more effectively and efficiently.
A minimalistic approach
Choose to adhere to a nominal bathroom color scheme. It is highly unnecessary to opt for a monochromatic scheme, contrary to popular belief. Although it is recommended that the toiletry-bearers be of the same color as that of the surroundings, to add an element of class and simplicity. The contents of plastic shampoo bottles, conditioners, shower-gels etc. must preferably be transferred into bathroom décor containers; thus adding style, availability of space and an overall uncluttered surrounding.
Traditional bathroom doors are notorious for opening inside the bathroom, and consuming unnecessary space. Instead of having such doors that swing back and forth, try opting for pocket doors. Pocket doors are those that slide open and shut; acting as great space savers and can be designed to match with existing décor. If there arises a lack of availability of space or architectural unfeasibility for pocket doors; you can opt instead for barn doors, that slide along the walls instead sliding inside pockets. If neither is an option and having a conventional door is your only option, make sure the door opens outwards.
Look around your bathroom and ensure that shelves are most strategically located. They should make required objects easy to reach for and provide convenience. Try positioning shelves at innovative locations, such as above the bathroom door, as it is generally an overlooked space that is often wasted. Create spaces for instilling shelves within niches. More on that ahead. Glass shelves with appropriate lights can do wonders in enhancing the majesty displayed.
A Niche can be described as a hollow recess within a wall that allows storage in this context. Though not as pocket friendly as the other discussed options, rest assured a niche will well add to the grandeur of your bath space. They are great alternatives for towel racks, soap pedestals and other miscellaneous bathroom accessories. A towel bar, which would otherwise protrude a good 4 inches, obstructing the opening of your door or interfering in some other activity; can be avoided altogether by a towel niche, which would conversely save space and add to the overall elegance.
The sink is one of the most fundamental objects in the bathroom, and should be given its due attention. A tint that matches with the rest of the bathroom should be opted for the sink. Instead of going for a conventional sink, prefer the bowl shaped vessel sinks, as they contribute to the minimalistic theme of the bathroom. Vessel sinks free up the space that would otherwise be consumed by the sink inside, allowing room for additional space for constructing cabinets or drawers.
